Great Fit

I was prepared for the first pair of jeans to need a little tweaking. They didn’t though, they fit great! Pattern was easy to follow, and all the pieces fit together perfectly. So happy to have found this one!

Cords that actually fit!

I am putting together a pair of Ash Jeans in stretch cotton corduroy and just basted them together to do a fit test and they are so nice. i really like the shaping and they are coming together easily. i did raise the rise by 1/2 inch according to the blog tutorial. These are going to be my new favorite trousers, I’m sure of it.

Love it!

After having done the Dawn pattern I had to try Ash. I'm a fan of skinny jeans and Ash jeans have become my favorite jeans

I was so scared to make jeans...

...But seriously this pattern makes it so easy.

I’m in the middle of making the Ash jeans, which is my first pair of legit jeans. I should add the caveat that I’m a relatively experienced sewist, and I have made pants before, so I was familiar with the basics of fitting. That being said, I’m so impressed with the fit and how easy the sewalong instructions are to follow. These were supposed to be a muslin but they’re turning out way better than expected. I wanted them to be more of a high-waisted style, so I used the instructions to raise the rise 1 1/2 inches, using my Flint pants pattern as a guide. I graded in one more size at the waistband based on experience on how pants fit my body with different rises. Instead of using topstitching thread, I used a triple stitch and double needle. It’s not great going around curves, but I’m not using a contrasting color topstitching thread so it’s a bit easier for my first pair.

RTW jeans, you and I are finished! Now armed with this pattern, I will never ever ever buy another pair of jeans that fit poorly!
