Brumby skirt pattern

I really enjoyed sewing this skirt! The details made it really special and I learned several new skills too, especially the exposed zipper. So thankful for the tutorials on the blog.

Absolutely love this skirt, and the instructions are clear, concise and well written. I haven’t made or worn a skirt for about 25 years and this is such a timeless piece with a classic silhouette. Feeling very chic and have another planned.

This is a lovely pattern, will definitely be making more. The fit is perfect first go. I made the longest version in a lightweight cotton lawn and its beautiful and cool for summer

Easy to follow, exactly what I wanted.

Just finished a dupion silk skirt using the Brumby pattern. Turned out so well, I'm making another!
Easy to follow, and I lined the skirt after seeing a suggestion on the pattern instructions.
I substituted an invisible zip for the metal one because metal was a bit too "heavy" on silk.

This is a new favorite pattern for me! I made my first Brumby with linen viscose, and my second with 100% linen. The A-line shape and gathers give this skirt amazing "swish"! I lengthened my pattern to a maxi, about 37 inches long. I replaced the cut-out pockets with simple inseam pockets, and also replaced the exposed zipper with an invisible zip. I like the clean, tailored look this gives. A tip: consider sizing down a little bit in the waistband. I made my first skirt using my exact waist size, not considering how it would stretch out with wear. My second skirt I went down a size, but used a slightly smaller seam allowance than called for. A perfect fit this time! I look forward to making more of these skirts, Lord willing. Classic, elegant, and feminine. As someone who wears skirts every day, I am excited to have this pattern in my wardrobe!

this is a great skirt pattern with nice and clear isntructions. the pockets are big and comfy. I did and flat front/elastic back instead of a zipper and decreased the height of the waistband for a slightly more casual look. i made a size 6 with 1.5 m (145 cm wide) softened linen. would recommend : )

The Brumby is my favourite skirt pattern because it’s beautifully drafted & flatters a variety of shapes! I’ve made it in both chambray and liberty rayon, which has resulted in two different but equally fabulous skirts. Thank you!

When asked to review my favorite MN pattern, I was paralyzed with indecision because I love them all! On further consideration I decided on the Brumby skirt as I have made 3 of them and love them all. It is a pretty easy pattern to sew, beautifully drafted like all MN patterns with easy to follow instructions. This style stands out because it has the BEST pockets! Style is timelessness and flatters all figuresand looks great on, highly recommended.

I love the design of this skirt. It’s going to look great in the drapery tencel rayon I have picked out!

I found the instructions easy to follow and I'm very new to sewing. I love the giant pockets! I've only made version B but look forward to making the shortest version.

This pattern is well made and the instructions are well-written. I made the below-the-knee version in a medium blue linen fabric. I added several inches to the length as I am quite tall, aand reduced the fullness in the skirt by 3-4 inches, while retaining the A-line shaping. I used an invisible zipper rather than the exposed zipper. I love the big pockets!

The skirt turned out well and will make a cool summer garment.

Great pattern, so adaptable, love the modern exposed zip

Skirt sewn in a linen fabric in one afternoon. I lengthened 4 cm and put an elastic only in the back. I made the topstitching in the back and the front for a better fall. Thé pattern size is good. Very satisfied with the result.

I have been meaning to get this pattern now for quite some time. Almost a year, I was happy to get it. I got the PDF file, printed it and now I have to find fabric for it. I’m looking something with drape but also a little bit of body. The instructions and illustrations are superb. Everyone looks good in it, I may change the back zip to a concealed but we shall see once I start working on it.

I took it with me on vacation and wore it all the time. High waisted feature looks good with all my cropped top knit wears

After looking at this pattern for a long time, I finally ordered it. The ordering process was easy and the printing in A4 was straight-forward. The exposed metal zip is a beautiful feature and the instructions were clear to follow. And the pockets... who doesn't love big deep pockets.

I cut the size indicated by the size chart, based on carefully taken, current measurements. I test-fit the waistband before attaching it to the skirt and took in the wadi and by nearly two inches to get it to fit properly. After assembling the rest of the skirt it was 3” too big at the waist and the pockets are so deep I cannot reach the bottom, despite having the arms of a gibbon. After taking in the waistband the additional 3”, the panels are so heavily gathered under the pockets that the pockets sag unattractively. The pattern was printed to scale and I used heavily stabilized linen to prevent stretch.

I am putting this one on repeat!

I love this pattern! It is just what I needed and I love all three versions. I have made two of the three versions and I abaolutely love them. I can't wait to make the third and to try sifferent fabrics. The instructions are brilliant, especially for a novice like me! In love!!!!!

I love the look of this with top stitching to emphasize the pockets. My first exposed zip came out great thanks to the instructions. Love it!

Fabulous pattern made it with some fabric in my stash and couldn't be more pleased. Going to do it again with some other fabric I have. Absolutely love the pockets!
