Harper shorts & skort pattern

Brought this pattern because I specifically like the shape of the pockets, but have been blown away by the fit!!
I cut straight into my fabric (I know risky business) but the fit was absolutely perfect! In fact I have some white denim on my cutting table about to be another pair!

I came across this pattern, as it was on sale. The fit is great and is a very easy and quick pattern to make. I like especially that the shorts are lined, that makes them warm in winter and very comfortable when you wear tights.

The way these are constructed makes the waist very bulky. They look nice but sit too low to be able to tuck anything in. I didn't line them, the whole idea of shorts is to be cool. Self drafted a waistband and I'm much happier with how they look and fit. I made the skort version

Very smart looking and just the thing for the tennis court. Shorts with a skirt but not a skirt. Room to move and comfy.

Although I haven't made this pattern up yet, it is the ideal style for my upcoming holiday. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, just like other megan Nielson patterns I have sewn up. Only one little niggle is that I hadn't read the sizing correctly, and being wider around the middle, I will need to make some alterations to the pattern, as it is not as size inclusive as I would have liked. Not a big issue being an experienced sewer, just a little hassle.

I am enjoying this sew so far. I'm quite a novice, so was concerned that it may be a bit outside of my current skill set, but loving the challenge.

I'm a beginner sewer and have been impressed with the quality of MN patterns but I had trouble with the zipper and waistband with these shorts. Will give it another go but might adapt so that they open like the wattle skirt which I made and love wearing.

I found the instructions easy to follow and I really like how the skort fits, and it's design, I just wish the insides were finished. The tips suggested it wasn't necessary but I'm now worried about how it'll hold up in the wash.

the instructions with this pattern look very clear and understandable. I have not used the pattern yet but look forward to summer when I can take the time to sew

Great pattern from Megan, as usual! It's great that it doesn't require a lot of fabric, and it makes for many different combinations. Only issue I have with it is that right now I'm a little over the maximum hip measurements, so my shorts will need to wait to be worn. Can't wait to try a scalloped hem!

I really love how these turned out. The fit was really good. I would just take in at the waist a little bit for my next pair. Putting in the invisible zipper was no problem at all and I love that they are fully lined. I may add a back pocket on a future pair. I really enjoy sewing Megan Nielsen Patterns. They turn out great and instructions are easy to follow.

After recent frustrations fitting dresses from the big for, this pattern came together like a dream. The instructions were easy to follow and the fitting was simple. I liked that the lines were smooth and the fabric wasn’t bulky at the waist. I made it in navy Stretch Cotton.

Really lovely pattern with easy to follow instructions. I just made the shorts in a blue cotton poplin for wearing around the house in the warmer months! I used this to see what Megan Nielsen Patterns would be like and I look forward to trying lots more in their range!

Great pattern which is comfortable to wear and not over complex to make. Really clear and easy to follow instructions,

I love the Harper shorts. I have made 4 pairs off the paper pattern, but with the pattern retiring I bought a PDF version to ensure my ability to continue making my favourite shorts into the future! Sad they are going, but I’m sure more great stuff is on the way!

I love this pattern. The design options and easy to understand instructions makes the Harper my favorite shorts pattern.

I just finished my first pair of skorts out of reclaimed, medium weight cotton and I'm delighted. From the measurements, I decided to grade between two sizes (I'm rather thick-waisted), and the fit is perfect. This is a fairly involved but really quite easy make; the instructions are thorough and the patterning is obviouly excellent. I will certainly make more.
