Acacia Curve underwear pattern

4.9out of 5 113 reviews

Acacia is low rise, bikini cut underwear - basic, normal and super comfortable, the kind you can wear every single day and fill up your dresser with. I designed it because I couldn't find an underwear pattern with the fit I wanted: a low rise (but not super low) and a comfortable leg cut with ample coverage, so your life can be a wedgie free zone. The gusset has fully enclosed seams, there are three ways to attach your elastic, and the pattern pieces are full size so they're easy to squeeze onto your fabric scraps. Quick to sew, and perfect for beginners.

Easy sew

I didn’t get the elastic measuring or get instructions for the sew with the printout so I watched a YouTube tutorial instead

Hi Rebecca, I'm so sorry to hear you had trouble with the instructions! From the backend it looks like you successfully downloaded the instructions from your account - if that's not the case can you send me an email hello@megannielsen.com and i'll help you find it :)

Easy make

The instructions were clear and the pattern was very easy to follow, especially with the instrucional video. The only part that i struggled with was the elastic which i believe will get easier with practice.

Wonderful free pattern!

What was I waiting for? The Acacia Curve pattern was the perfect introduction into sewing my own underthings. Not only do they fit, but it's like potato chips, once you have sewn one pair of great-fitting underwear from your stretchy scraps, well...you have to sew more! Thank you for the free pattern and starting me on my home-sewn undies journey. I don't think I'll be buying those expensive RTL ones again anytime soon.

4 pairs completed and counting....

Great fit, easy to alter

I was really happy to find the Acacia Curve pattern! Because I am not a bikini wearer, the first thing I did was extend the side seams up to match my current set of store-bought underwear... and they came out exactly as I'd hoped! So far I've made one pair from remnants, and one pair from reused fabric from a t-shirt. Both versions fit great -- meaning I don't think about how they fit at all when I'm wearing them. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The only thing I'd warn my fellow sewing noobs about is that the previously-sewn seams are quite thick by the time you are attaching the leg elastic... have a roll of fabric or a ruler or something handy so the presser foot doesn't get stuck when it's crossing over the previous seams. The finished product doesn't feel thick or stiff, it's just a sewing machine thing I didn't know about when I made my first pair.

Nifty Knickers

Have loved sewing these! I added one centimetre to the lower leg, and added 4” to length on one pair and used a1” elastic on a couple of pairs. They are extremely comfortable and I’ve been singing their praises to a number of my sewing friends. They’re also a great scrap buster, I used fabric left over from other projects. I would add a photo but I can’t see how/where to do that. Thanks for the pattern I think you may have converted me and I very likely will never purchase a store bought pair again.

First and Fab!!

My first attempt at making my own pants, and I absolutely LOVE them! Leftover cotton lycra scraps from a dress I’d made and sone 6mm picot elastic. Quick, easy and fabulous! Thanks for a GREAT pattern! ❤️

Acacia Curve Knickers

I've made these before by grading up the original pattern. I can't wait to try the curve version. They are super quick to make and are the only underwear I ever wear! I love being able to use up my fun jersey scraps and make original pairs of knickers. Thank you so much.

great fit, except the gusset too short in the front

I'm new to knit sewing. I used fold over elastic, it was an easy make (minus a hole, not too bad for a first time).
The fit is great out of the box, it sit excactly where I like. Except the front of the gusset which is too short on the front. I marked where I'd like it too be, next one will be perfect !

Love it

The pattern was so easy to follow! I have sewn my own clothes before but I am a visual and need the illustrations to make it go easier for me. This was a good pattern, they are comfortable and I didn’t need to make any adjustments. Thank you!

Finally shorties that fit!

I am very happy with the pattern. I've been searching for shorties patterns for years now, and this one now just fits and was easy to sew. Thanks a lot!

i'll keep trying

I'm having a hard time matching the sizing to the ones I know in Canada. I'm not very good with patterns so this could be part of the problem too. I'm excited to keep trying.
